Alexa Ducioame Joins Prairie Business 40 Under 40 List
At Moore Engineering, we know that our employee-owners are the reason we’ve had 60+ years of success. Today, we’re honored to highlight one of them. Alexa Ducioame, a Project Manager at Moore Engineering, has been selected for Prairie Business’s 40 Under 40 list! The recognition celebrates Alexa’s outstanding contributions to the engineering field and her commitment to the FMWF community through STEM education.
From Flood Survivor to Engineering Leader
Alexa’s passion for engineering was paved by her experience coming face to face with the record-breaking 1997 flood in Grand Forks. After experiencing such devastation, Alexa knew she would dedicate her career to protecting communities from the same fate.
Alexa later earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering while studying at the University of North Dakota. In 2010, Ducioame joined NDDOT as an intern and later joined Moore Engineering full-time in 2012. She has climbed the ranks by taking on new responsibilities and demonstrated her capabilities while working on some of the most consequential water resource projects in the region.
Today, Alexa is a Project Manager in Moore Engineering’s Water Resources department.
Impactful Projects and Community Service
In her position, Alexa dedicates each day to fulfilling her mission of protecting communities from the impacts of flooding. Her work includes significant contributions to flood control projects in Ada, Minnesota, and the Fargo-Moorhead Area Diversion Project. Her experience-driven approach to complex flooding issues has been crucial in reducing the impact of flooding on communities.
Beyond flood protection engineering, Alexa has helped numerous communities create capital improvement plans to maximize their infrastructure planning potential. Ducioame truly embodies Moore Engineering’s mission: “improving lives by building strong communities.”
Champion for STEM and Diversity
As a female in a predominantly male-dominated industry, Alexa has a passion for promoting diversity in STEM education. As a contributor and organizer of educational programs, Alexa makes STEM accessible and fun for youth of all backgrounds and inspires the next generation to explore careers in engineering and related fields.
Her dedication to community service and excellence in engineering was nationally recognized in 2018 when she was named one of the ten New Faces of Civil Engineering by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
