Lysne named to Prairie Business 40 Under 40 list

WEST FARGO, N.D.Kurt Lysne, PE, CFM, was named to Prairie Business magazine’s 40 Under 40 list today. The list features 40 of the top business professionals under the age of 40 in the northern Plains from a wide range of industries and have made significant impacts in their chosen professions, industries and communities. They are entrepreneurs, industry experts, executives and nonprofit and community leaders.

“The 40 Under 40 list is well-known in our region, and the people on it are deserving of the distinction,” said Lisa Gibson, editor of Prairie Business. “They work hard in their careers and communities, prompting their peers to nominate them for this honor. To all the winners: Congratulations and best of luck as you continue to succeed.”

“We couldn’t be happier Kurt earned this well-deserved honor,” said Jeffry Volk, Moore’s president and CEO. “Kurt exemplifies everything we expect in a professional engineer and a Moore employee – professionalism, outstanding technical ability and an innate kindness toward everyone.”

Lee Beauvais, Moore’s West Fargo office manager and Lysne’s supervisor, said, “Kurt’s responsibility and leadership have grown steadily and significantly since starting as an intern here in 2004. Earlier in 2016, he was promoted to Water Resources group leader, where he manages the people that take on some of the region’s most complex water challenges.”

About the quality of Lysne’s work and presence in the office, Beauvais added, “Kurt is unfailingly competent, trustworthy and likable. His positive, forward-looking personality and easy demeanor are big keys to his success as a client advisor, a supervisor and a leader in our organization. He leads by example – in words, actions and body language.”

“I’m humbled by the support I received from my Moore colleagues when discussion of this award arose,” said Lysne. “We are a real team here – and usually more like a family. To be singled out for recognition doesn’t seem fair when I know how hard everyone here works. But if it brings attention to all the great work we are doing at this company to bring solutions to communities that make their lives better and more secure, that’s a good thing.”

Lysne earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is a registered professional engineer in North Dakota and Minnesota, and achieved certified floodplain manager status from the Association of State Floodplain Managers. After starting at Moore as an intern while still in college, Lysne served as a professional engineer and project manager before becoming the Water Resources group leader in January 2016. In that role, he leads a team of nearly 20 engineers and technicians through complex floodplain and other water challenges.

Earlier in 2016, Lysne was named the Young Engineer of the Year by the FM Engineers Club and the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers. He is a member of the FM Engineers Club, the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Minnesota Association of Floodplain Managers and the Association of Dam Safety Officials. Lysne is a member and volunteers at Triumph Lutheran Church, and volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels and as a Salvation Army bell ringer. He and his wife, Melissa, have three children.
