Plummer, MN – County Roadway & City of Plummer Infrastructure Improvements Project

CHALLENGE

The City of Plummer needed to address deteriorating infrastructure, including worn pavement, non-ADA compliant sidewalks, and inefficient school parking and bus drop-off areas. Additionally, the city’s aging sanitary sewer system required replacement. Coordination with the County, which had its own replacement plans, was essential. Public engagement, especially during COVID-19, added complexity, necessitating unique online methods for gathering input.

SOLUTION

The project included 1.4 miles of road reconstruction, 0.8 miles of sanitary sewer line replacement, and new storm sewer installations. Moore Engineering provided survey, design, public engagement, and construction services, as well as funding assistance. The project, designed in 2020 and constructed in 2022, required coordination between the City, County, and various funding sources. Engineering challenges were addressed through teamwork between Moore Engineering and project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with all State Aid standards.

OUTCOME

The completed project delivered ADA-compliant sidewalks, improved parking, new pavement, and upgraded sanitary and storm sewer systems. These upgrades provide long-term benefits to the community, improving safety, accessibility, and overall infrastructure. Both the City of Plummer and the County were pleased with the project’s success, noting the improvements to the roads and sidewalks.
